Co-ordinator Margaret Helmer said ‘Connect for Life’ was a free event promoting a healthy lifestyle through social inclusion, health and wellness.

“The event will have a festival atmosphere with local artists and entertainers taking part along with stallholders, community groups, local schools and youth groups,” Ms Helmer said.

“While it’s a Seniors Week event, there will be something to interest everybody on the day, including demonstrations of healthy food, exercise and dance.”

‘Connect for Life’ is taking place at the Joyce Wheatley Community Centre in Hindmarsh Park and runs from 10am to 2pm.

Organisations, groups, entertainers and businesses taking part include Healthy Cities Illawarra, Kiama Community Garden, Kiama Library, Kiama Quilters, Blowhole Buskers, Kiama Public School Choir and Kiama Farmers’ Market. 

“We are delighted to have the support of a range of local health-related businesses and organisations that will provide advice and examples of how to live a healthy lifestyle,” Ms Helmer said.

“The theme for Seniors Week 2017 is Let’s Do More Together, so we’ve organised a mix of great entertainment and music to show that living a healthy lifestyle can be fun when you share activities with other people.”

‘Connect for Life’ is being hosted by Blue Haven Care in partnership with NSW Family and Community Services.
