KIAMA LIONS
Race Day on April 1 is fast approaching and we have all our races sponsored, so now we have to ensure a full house in the Bert Lillye Lounge. Please get a group together and come and have a great day out. It is the Kiama Race Day not just the Lions Day and Kembla Grange have kindly given us 2000 free entry tickets to the main concourse area for residents of the Kiama municipality. These will shortly be available at several outlets in Kiama.
However, if you want to join us in the Bert Lillye Lounge and get VIP treatment then please call Ian on 0417 692 289 or Clive on 0409 047 981. Even if you can't put a table of 10 together please let us know and we can fit your group with another.
Last weekend a small committee interviewed several candidates for our Outward Bound Sponsorship Scheme, they were all keen and knew that they would be going on a life changing experience. The course starts in April.
Our Respite House project has now finally overcome the last administrative hurdles. We will be erecting fencing over the next week or so and then we can commence to clear the site and really get our hands dirty.
KIAMA ROTARY
We had a triple celebration at last week’s dinner meeting. Firstly, we welcomed Karen Fuller as the newest member of the club. Karen’s induction continues to strengthen our club’s age and gender balances with well over one third of our members being female. Karen will join our Youth Service Team.
Secondly, Tonia Barnes was recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow for her selfless contributions to Rotary over many years. Congratulations Tonia and thank you for your dedicated service to Rotary and the communities in Kiama, Canberra and overseas.
Lastly but certainly not least, we had the pleasure of hearing from our latest National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) student Danyon Farrell. Each year we hear of how NYSF changes the lives of young people who have attended. This year is no different. Danyon we wish you great success as you finish your HSC and work towards your science degree.
Congratulations to each of you for achieving great things in your personal lives and with Rotary. We look forward to watching your journeys continue.
