Each week, we’re profiling a ‘local face’ from throughout the Kiama municipality.
This week’s ‘local face’ is Hope Prosser.
Occupation: Event and venue co-ordinator, The Pavilion, Kiama.
Hobbies: I’m in my happy place when I am surrounded by family and friends. Throw in some salt water and I am in heaven. A love of cooking and working in the events industry is a recipe for a last minute call up to my nearest and dearest for an impromptu gathering which if it’s not a school night will often involve dancing to my favourite 80’s tracks. When I haven’t pressed snooze on the alarm you will see me walking the Kiama tracks chasing the sunrise.
My favourite thing about the area is: Through my work I have had the privilege of crossing paths with many community organisations. These humble volunteers make up the fabric of this town and I feel incredibly privileged to be able to work and live in this community surrounded by passionate people that want to make Kiama an even better place to live.
I often say to my family and friends how lucky we are to live in this picturesque part of the world. Anywhere that features on the front cover of a tourism magazine or television program has got to be magical, right? My husband and I pinch ourselves daily that we are raising our two boys in this amazing community. I truly don’t think they know how lucky they are to be born and bred Kiama kids.
Fun facts about you: A few years back hubby and I had a dream to travel Australia and get out and see what existed past our 2533 postcode. We had both done our fair share of international travel and thought it was time to pack up home and set on an outback adventure.
We took our boys out of school and headed off for four months, working our way around our diverse country. We took in some breathtaking scenery, met some inspiring locals everywhere we pulled up camp but can honestly say hand on heart there was nowhere else that was a patch on Kiama.
What makes this area unique: The people and of course our location. Kiama really does have the best of everything with its green rolling hills, stunning beaches and waterways and close proximity to major towns, services and facilities.
