A 65-year-old man has been shot in the forehead with what is believed to be an air rifle at Callala Bay.

Police were told the man was walking on Emmett Street about 10.45pm on Friday when he felt an impact to his head.
A short time later he presented to Shoalhaven Hospital where treatment revealed a small pellet was lodged in his forehead.
The man currently remains in Shoalhaven Hospital in a stable condition.
Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command were called and began investigations into the shooting.
