GJ Gardner’s Sean Vickery and Nathan Fay said kitchens are now considered the “hub of the home” and if it’s too small, has a poor layout or design and has a lack of storage it can greatly reduce the number of interested buyers when time to sell.
“The key to good kitchen design is keeping it simple and functional. It’s important to think about not only what you need now but what you might need at other life stages,” Mr Vickery said.
He believes 10 per cent of a building budget should go towards the kitchen while functionality is important to design, that is, limiting the amount of walking and reaching between the cooktop, sink and fridge.
