Never call this bloke old. The Banjo once made that mistake and wound up getting flogged by a country mile. Norm Roland turns 97 this week. Norm, who skips for Kiama in the Illawarra pennant competition, is busy preparing for this year’s pennant season which starts in March. Happy birthday Norm.

The club’s men’s fours championship reached the quarter-final stage with some very tightly fought matches. G. Bartrim, B. Breasley, C. Baker and K. Pepper beat A. Stewart, R. Milton, A. Schofield and S. Wills 26-15. D. Brown, B. Vickers, D. Keenan and T. Hodgson defeated A. Boys, D. Loone, B. Archer and M. Ganderton 19-18. D. Johnson, R. Logan, A. Van Zanen and A. Piana defeated A. Tarbert, T. Rossiter, W. Toulmin and B. Rossiter 21-19. B. Gibson, N. Tylee, J. Heidtman and A. Rogers beat M. Parkin, W. Partridge, W. Richardson and D. Gorham 23-17.
In Wednesday’s social bowls the winners were A. Franks, C. Storer and C. Twigg with the runners-up G. Ward and D. Hamer. Thursday saw a win to D. Rushworth, R. Axam and W. Turner with the runners up N. Norris, A. Van Zanen and D. Gorham.
