The new noticeboard is located outside The Collective, a pop-up shop containing more than 40 small businesses that now occupies the old Mitre 10 store in Terralong Street.
“Unfortunately the alternative arrangements the (Kiama View) shopping centre made were not suitable, so we have been looking for a new site,” Peter O’Neill, spokesperson for the Kiama Residents Association said.
“We had an offer from Andrew Wilkinson of Illawarra Shade Sheds to build us a new board and The Collective offered to host the board outside their shop, so everything worked out very well.”
Emily Gough, manager of The Collective said they were “supportive of encouraging more community participation, so this was a great opportunity to help fulfill a genuine need for Kiama”.
The free noticeboard is available to community groups to post information about their activities.
Kiama residents can also post any legitimate notice - for sale, work wanted, position vacant, garage sale, lost and found and more.
