The Hurley Surf Club travelled to North Wollongong and Kiama on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11.
The groms were coached across five sessions, which are aimed at giving participants personalised analysis and expert feedback to help them improve their surf skills and technique.
The Hurley Surf Club travelled to the Illawarra region following stop-offs in Cronulla, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, which featured more than 100 kids being helped via personal video coaching, training and technique advice from expert surf coaches.
For Illawarra groms that missed out on the sessions, there is still a chance to get personal video coaching via Hurley Surf Club’s newly launched online platform.
The Hurley Surf Club website offers a personal video coaching feature that enables surfers of all levels to hone their skills and technique under the tutelage of the world’s best surfers, coaches, shapers, technicians and scholars of surf.
Illawarra groms can sign up at the Hurley website, submit a questionnaire about their surfing and upload a one minute video (or less) of them surfing two right and left waves to YouTube.
Within 24 hours of submission, an expert coach will review the grom’s questionnaire and video, before providing personalised analysis and feedback on how to improve their technique and surf skills.
The program’s global roster of coaches includes former world champion and Australian surfing legend Barton Lynch.
In addition to the personal video coaching feature, the online Hurley Surf Club offers free how-to videos breaking down the techniques of top pros, as well as tip-led articles from experts covering the whole gamut of surfing – from diet and fitness advice, to how to pick the right board and local surf training events.
