Dr Ralph and Janet Hanson have made the proposal for their property Hanwood Hill in Broughton Vale Road.
The plan is to use the existing rustic barn as a backdrop for ceremonies such as weddings, naming ceremonies or photographic sessions held on the grassy area in front of the barn.
It is proposed the business would provide a venue for small gatherings.
The couple identified a demand for such a venue after owning another rental property in Berry for almost 10 years where they fielded many requests to allow wedding ceremonies in their garden.
As well as featuring the rustic barn, the grass area would be decorated with rustic wedding features such as hay bales, bunting, flowers and a portable arch.
Ceremonies would take place in front of the barn with guests gathered on the lawn, with seating for about 25 people.
It is anticipated ceremonies would last for around one and a half hours and there would only be a maximum use of 52 days per year.
Ceremonies would be conducted between 11am and 7pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Parking will be provided for 50 cars.
No food would be served at the venue.
In the event of wet weather it is planned guests would gather under an awning to the side of the barn.
The barn is currently used for storage of farm machinery
The application is valued at $10,000.
