A 21-year-old Sanctuary Point man who pleaded guilty to aggravated break and enter where a 77-year-old male was punched and kicked has been jailed for seven years.

Alexander John Wayne Little, 21, pleaded guilty to aggravated break and enter with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, aggravated break and enter to commit a serious indictable offence, four counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception and larceny in Nowra District Court.
Court papers said about 9.45pm on February 23 last year, the 77-year-old man was at his home on Idlewild Avenue, Sanctuary Point when two men, one armed with a kitchen knife, forced entry to his house.
The homeowner had previously suffered a stroke and had problems with speed and mobility and difficulty speaking full sentences. He needed care from an independent living nurse which visited him each day.
The court heard Little was one of two men, who were both wearing balaclavas, involved in the attack.
They demanded cash before assaulting the man, kicking and punching him, before taking his wallet and credit cards.
The resident sustained serious injuries including a fractured ankle, which later required surgery, abrasions to his arms and back, as well as swelling and abrasions to his head.
The stolen credit cards were later used to withdraw funds totalling more than $1900 from numerous ATMs.
Judge Ian McClintock sentenced him to an aggregate sentence of seven years’ jail from March 27, 2015 with a non-parole period of four years.
He was also ordered to pay $1980 compensation.
He will be eligible for parole from March 26, 2019.
