Mayor Mark Honey thanked community members who participated in the workshops.
“We had a strong turnout for both workshops with a cross-section of people taking part,” Cr Honey said.
“The report shows those who took part enjoyed the workshops, and felt councillors and staff had listened and understood the ideas being put forward.”
The draft community engagement workshop report, which is now available on the council website at www.kiama.nsw.gov.au goes into detail on the outputs from the workshops.
Cr Honey said there had also been a strong response to the online survey provided as an alternative to those who couldn’t make the workshops.
“We’ve had close to 200 responses to the survey, which is an exceptional response from the community,” he said.
The Community Strategic Plan and all the associated plans need to be prepared to go ‘live’ in July 2017.
Council will prepare draft documents for public exhibition in April 2017.
During this time the community will have further opportunity to review the documents and provide their comments.
