There will be Christmas carols events taking place throughout the area. 

In Kiama, the annual ‘Community Carols’, hosted by the Combined Churches of Kiama (representing churches in Kiama and Gerringong), will take place on Wednesday, December 14.

It will run from 7pm-9pm in Hindmarsh Park.

The event is sponsored by Kiama council, the Combined Churches and many service clubs and businesses.

“Because this is such an important event for the Kiama community we have changed the name slightly to acknowledge this, so now it’s the ‘Kiama Community Carols in the Park’,” Reverend Rod Harding, chair of the carols committee said. 

Singers from local schools are set to perform, and will this year welcome a choir from Shellharbour Anglican School. 

Rev Harding said the carols would also support community-based charity Homestead of Hope.

The evening will celebrate Christmas via the singing of a mixture of popular traditional carols with more modern Christmas songs. 

Nearby shops will be open for business across the road from the carols. 

In the event of inclement weather, the carols will take place at The Pavilion. 

Meanwhile, the whole family can enjoy carols under the stars at Jamberoo.

Carols in the Park at Jamberoo, organised by the Inter-Church Committee of Jamberoo will take place at Reid Park on Tuesday, December 13 from 7pm. 

Bring a blanket or a chair and settle in for an evening of carols supported by the Salvation Army Band.

The wet weather alternative venue is Jamberoo Public School, located on Churchill Street. 

Also taking place is the Carols on the Green event at Kiama Golf Club.

This free community event will take place on Tuesday, December 13 from 6pm-8pm.

Bring the picnic rug and enjoy a family night out. There will be face-painting, live music, a petting zoo, visit from Santa, and food and beverages will be available.

The Kiama Public School choir and Minnamurra Public School ukulele club will perform, together with other local entertainers.
