At the North Kiama Neighbourhood Centre, horticulturist Hazel King made a number of presentations to members of the Kiama Garden Club for the annual garden competition.
The results are as follows:
Chris Young received first place for ‘Garden Over ½ Acre’, which was sponsored by Furniture One. Jan and Rod Callaghan were awarded second place, which was sponsored by Floral Art Group.
Within the ‘Garden Under ½ Acre’ Brian Smith was awarded first place, which was sponsored by Gareth Ward while Dianne Westgate received second place sponsored by Molly’s Hairdressing.
The ‘Native Garden’ category was taken out by Esmay Foster and sponsored by Wild Flowers Studio, while Mark and Moira Sheldon were awarded second place which was sponsored by Kiama Pharmacy.
Kiama Council sponsored the ‘Water Wise Gardens’, which was awarded to Robert Curll and Marion Gould received first prize for ‘Balcony Garden’, which was sponsored by Kiama Council. In second place was Vet Lian Ford, and was sponsored by Gerringong Bakery.
A spokesperson for the Kiama Garden Club said there were a number of sponsors to thank for the event.
“We would like to thank a number of sponsors including the Kiama Municipality Council, Furniture One and Gareth Ward,” he said.
“While there are a number, we would also like to thank Burnett’s on Barney, Ray White Real Estate, Rose Valley Florist, Ka Bari Restaurant, Wild Flowers Studio, Floral Art Group, Molly’s Hairdressing, Gerringong Bakery and Kiama Pharmacy.
“We would also like to thank Eco Crop Protectants and Hazel King.”
The Kiama Garden Club meets at 10:30am on the fourth Friday of every month at North Kiama Neighbourhood Centre, Meehan Drive, Kiama Downs.
All residents with an interest in gardening are welcome to attend. For those interested in joining, memberships cost $20 per person, per year.
