Kiama resident Morgan, 73, joined the Kiama Tennis Club 12 years ago.
“No matter where you go in Australia there’s always a tennis court,” he said.
“If you play tennis you always meet a few people straight away. That eases you into the community.”
Morgan is ranked No.319 in the world and No.20 in Australia in the over-70s men’s. He reached the semi-finals of the recent Victorian Seniors Claycourt Championships in Kooyong.
Morgan pulled off a stirring comeback in the quarter-finals against Bill Sale (Melbourne). Morgan said the three-hour singles match was a “tough game”.
He heads to Yarrawonga this week for the Victorian Grasscourt Championships, and will visit Europe in 2017 for singles (over-70s) and doubles (over-60s) events.
“I’m not giving up – I’ll keep playing as long as I possibly can,” Morgan said.
