Community members are required to review the Kiama Community Strategic Plan (CSP), which is used by council for long-term planning of projects, infrastructure and services.
Kiama Mayor Mark Honey said the review was required following the election of a new council.
“While council is coordinating the review, community members are required to drive the review itself,” Cr Honey said.
“We need them to look at the current plan, see what’s still relevant, and freshen up other sections.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to consider your vision for Kiama in 10, 20 or 30 years’ time.”
Cr Honey said the first stage of the CSP review was the ‘Understanding Kiama Survey’, which gauges:
•what you think about where you live;
•what is important to you now and in the future;
•the direction we are heading as a community;;
•where you’d like to see improvement;
•how you imagine your future and the future of the community.
The survey takes 15 minutes to complete, and those taking part can win an Apple iPad.
The survey is available online at www.kiama.nsw.gov.au
Cr Honey said council was also running workshops in November “to allow people to discuss the current plan face-to-face, including raising the things that matter most to you”.
“By investing this time now, we are also investing in the future of our community,” he said.
The Community Strategic Plan workshops will take place on Thursday, November 24 from 9.30am to 12.30pm or 5.30pm to 8.30pm at The Pavilion, Kiama
