Road campaign – Narooma police conducted a proactive road safety campaign between Friday and Sunday, charging five drivers with eight offences and two traffic infringements issued. A 22-year-old Narooma man and a 46-year-old woman were charged with low range drink driving. A 43-year-old Kianga man was found to have an expired licence.

Ice and knives – Narooma police detected a 38-year-old Kianga man with an illicit drug and knives when at 5.45pm on Monday, he was observed riding a bicycle at Narooma without a helmet. A search located three knives, a glass pipe and a small quantity of ice. Police have seized the items and issued the man with a Field Court Attendance Notice to appear at Narooma Local Court on November 17. It is an offence to carry knives, including multi-tools with edged blades, in a public place without lawful reason.
Bermagui break-ins – Narooma Police are investigating four break-and-enter incidents at Bermagui area during overnight on Friday. Two mobile phones and an iPad were stolen from a residential property. Two mountain bikes were stolen from a locked shed at another property. A motorcycle and helmet were also stolen and later recovered a short distance away. A cafe and take-away shop in Bunga Street were also targeted with ice cream and cash stolen. Police will conduct forensic examinations.
Bushwalker rescued – A 53-year-old bushwalker was rescued from the slopes of Gulaga Mountain on Friday. The woman stumbled and broke her right ankle. Narooma police, Ambulance paramedics and the Narooma VRA rescue squad responded at 2.20pm. She was carried for about 1.5km and taken to hospital.
Vehicle searched – Police stopped a vehicle at Bodalla at 3.20pm on Thursday and a 32-year-old man was found with a glass pipe and a small amount of cannabis in a small tin, and was charged with possession. The 27-year-old driver was spoken to about the manner of his driving and was found to have a disqualified licence. The vehicle also had licence plates that belonged to another car and was unregistered and uninsured.
Suspended licence – A black Mercedes Benz with Victorian registration was stopped on the Princes Highway at Narooma at 11.40am on Thursday. The 53-year-old male driver admitted his licence was suspended and he was charged to appear in Narooma Local Court.
Trumpet goes missing – Local Narooma musician Mark Whitty has reported his beloved trumpet missing to police. The $5000 trumpet went missing outside the Narooma Golf Club around 9.30pm on Friday.
