It will take place at 2.30pm at Kiama Library.
The event will feature guest speakers, Cordeaux Heights residents Bill Condon and Di Bates.
Bill Condon and Dianne (Di) Bates will be talking about the process of working together to write and publish All of Us Together, a junior fiction novel which seeks to be a warm and gentle family story set during Australia’s Great Depression.
The husband and wife team are each well-known as children’s authors.
In 2016, Bates realised a dream and set up her own book imprint, About Kids Books (www.aboutkidsbooks.com), to publish books for readers aged eight to 12 years.
After reading more than 100 submitted manuscripts, she realised that Condon was writing just the kind of book she wants to publish – one that “goes straight to the heart”.
The pair will be offering some of their books for signature and sale at the event.
The talk will be followed by an afternoon tea.
Entry is $5 for Friends of Kiama Library members and $8 for visitors.
Condon’s writing includes novels, short stories and non-fiction, and collections of plays and poetry.
Three of his young adult novels; Dogs, No Worries and A Straight Line to My Heart have won the CBCA Honour Book of the Year.
He has also had books shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Literary Awards.
Condon was the winner of the inaugural Prime Minister’s Literary Award in 2010 for Young Adult Fiction for Confessions of a Liar, Thief and Failed Sex God.
A Straight Line to My Heart was also short-listed for the PM’s Literary Award in 2012.
Author of 130-plus books, Bates is a full-time freelance writer.
She has worked as a newspaper and magazine editor and manuscript assessor.
Bates also founded Buzz Words, a national magazine for those in the children’s book industry.
She is a recipient of The Lady Cutler Award for distinguished services to children’s literature.
