A development application was recently submitted for the demolition of the existing backpackers building at 31 Bong Bong Street, Kiama and additions and refurbishment of the existing hotel at 49 Manning Street.
The development has an estimated cost of $7,558,000.
According to reports, the additions and alterations for the proposed development allow for the demolition and construction of a new building behind the existing hotel premises to separate the hotel facilities from the licensed venue facilities.
The existing main Grand Hotel building, on the corner of Manning and Bong Bong Streets, will be refurbished to allow for three levels in the licensed venue offering food, drink and function hire capabilities.
The new hotel facilities will have rooms capable of housing 96 guests at one time in single, double and family lodgings.
The owners of the Grand are the Salim Group, who have operated it for more than a decade.
