Jovanovski is reprising the role in the Roo Theatre production of Miss Saigon starting on Friday, October 28.
And Roo Theatre’s artistic director and multiple CAT Award nominee can’t wait to play the role of the amoral club owner determined to keep lovebirds Kim and Chris apart.
Aaron Kernaghan will also be reprising his director role in this production, which is “a moving testament to the human spirit and a scathing indictment of the tragedies of war’’.
Miss Saigon tells of an epic love story about the relationship between an American GI and a young Vietnamese woman during the final days of the American occupation of Saigon.
Kim (Amy Wyatt) is working in a sleazy Saigon nightclub owned by a notorious wheeler dealer known as The Engineer.
John, an American GI, buys his friend Chris (Nathan Lomas) the services of Kim for the night. That night will change their lives forever. Their struggles to find each other over the ensuing years are the backdrop of this epic musical based on Puccini’s Madame Butterfly.
Featuring a cast of over 40 actors, including two children sharing the role of Tam, Miss Saigon is proving to be one of the most anticipated shows to hit the Roo stage this year.
“Audiences come with expectations, and you have to give them what they want. In the case of Miss Saigon, they’re going to leave with a lot more than they bargained for,’’ Aaron Kernaghan said.
“My principal cast are amazing, they have lifted the lyric off the page and their performances are going to stick with audiences for a long time.
“Add the supporting cast, amazing music, costumes, set, and technical aspects of the show and you have a production that hits a home-run every time.’’
Miss Saigon runs at The Harbour Theatre, corner of Addison and Wentworth Streets, Shellharbour Village, from October 28 to November 12. Tickets are available at www.rootheatre.com.au or on 4297 2891.
