Nearly 1.4 billion employed people around the world live on less than $1.65 a day.
Our members promote economic and community development and reduce poverty in underserved communities through training, well-paying jobs, and access to financial management institutions.
Projects range from providing people with equipment to vocational training.
Our members work to strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, in impoverished communities.
Kiama Rotary is able to support such projects through the generous backing of the local community at our various fundraising events and subsequent contributions to the Rotary Foundation.
The Foundation celebrates its centenary next year - stay tuned for more details.
We hope to see you at Rotary’s Kiama Car & Bike Spectacular to be held at the Kiama Showground on Sunday, November 13.
Please see our website and Facebook for more details.
Australian Rotary Clubs are part of an international network of business, professional and community leaders who strive to make the world a better place through practical efforts.
KIAMA LIONS
Quite a busy time for us but enjoyable at the same time.
Having just completed a hectic weekend at the Relay for Life, we now turn our attention to the Melbourne Cup at Kembla Grange where groups of us work for the Race Day and the clear-up afterwards.
After a couple of meetings away from Home Base at the Kiama Leagues Club we return there for our next dinner meeting on October 27.
There will be an interesting guest speaker talking about law enforcement in the Pacific region.
Because of the recent legislation by the state government we had decided that our dinner meeting on November 10 would be a nostalgic last visit to the Dapto Dogs.
Despite the change of heart by Mr Baird, we will still go because it’s something totally different and a lot of fun.
