We had a very successful week last week with the annual Festival of Choirs, Blue Haven Fete BBQ and commencing work on the viewing platform for the new Saddleback Mountain, Southern Lookout.
This year’s Festival of Choirs was another great success featuring: Kiama Men’s Probus Choir, Shoalhaven Lydian Singers, Southern Lights Vocal Academy, Sing Gong Go and Wollongong Harmony Chorus. Funds raised will support local and international Rotary projects. We thank all participating choristers and patrons for their generous support.
The Blue Haven Fete was another great event with all funds raised going to support Blue Haven Care.
We had a fun dinner last Monday night to Celebrate Hat Day in support of Mental Health. As well as local members and friends, the Rotary District Governor, Assistant Governor and District Secretary were also in attendance. Thanks to Kiama Leagues Club for donating hats for an auction that helped with the fundraising.
We hope to see you at Rotary’s, Kiama Car & Bike Spectacular to be held at the Kiama Showground on Sunday, November 13.
KIAMA LIONS
Well, our first outing of the proposed Friday lunch club was a great success. It’s a way of engaging people who cannot come to meetings on Thursday nights and/or interested in finding out just what Kiama Lions Club is all about. The next meeting is planned for Friday 21st at 1200 at the Sebel. Just come along and make yourself known to Wendi Scifleet who will be there to make you most welcome.
Our annual performance at the Blue Haven Fete was a great success. We had a fine team of extroverts running the Chocolate wheel, thanks to all who came and bought tickets - the prizes were well worth winning.
Now we turn our attention to the weekend of October 22-23 with our Relay for Life participation. We run the kitchen throughout, even through the Saturday night. We look forward to serving you and raising money for a great cause.
Our Caravan has required replacement stabilisers, because the others were worn out due to lots of use. It’s amazing how much work that Caravan achieves.
KIAMA MEN’S PROBUS CLUB
Kiama Men’s Probus meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 9.15am at Kiama Bowling & Recreation Club. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, October 26. Club business is followed by a short talk by one of our newer members. Following morning tea members are treated to a presentation by a guest speaker. This month Ray Clark returns and will speak on Sydney’s Golden Sandstone, focusing on the Sydney GPO and the Redfern Railway Mortuary Building.
Any retired men in the community who would like to join in the fun, fellowship and friendship will be made most welcome. Should you wish to share the occasion, or are considering joining a local Probus club, please contact president Garry Funnell on 42322210, or just come along.
