Tilba Real Dairy is located in historic Central Tilba and is a primary attraction for tourists visiting the region, according to the NSW Business Chamber.
“A multi-faceted business offering the experience and wonder of growing and manufacturing food from paddock to plate. Visitors can experience the ancient art of cheese-making through viewing areas, or watch the bottling of jersey milk directly from their farm. They hold cheese making courses, stock a range of local condiments and honey, and offers an extensive range of giftware. The business strives to give tourists the opportunity to experience the intangible gift of past time, a memory where life was simple, joyous and revolved around food, family and friends. Tilba Real Dairy has developed a range of marketing, human resources and business strategies over the past 12 months to strengthen the core business.”
The NSW Business Chamber described the joint Excellence winners as follows:
“Georgies Fine Jewellery was established in the Eurobodalla area in 1983 and has since expanded to five stores on the Far South Coast with stores located in Narooma and Batemans Bay focusing on custom design and manufacturing personalised jewellery for their clients. With specialised workshops and design studios in the Narooma and Batemans Bay stores, clients receive the most advanced service in the jewellery industry available today. Three years ago, the business purchased a new design software called Countersketch and has since increased business by 30 per cent. The business conducted staff sales training to ensure all employees knew how to use the software. Two of Georgies Fine Jewellery designs won awards in the Nationwide Jewellers Design competition. The business’ commitment to excellence whether it be customer service or designing and crafting that special piece is always at the forefront of their business ethic.”
“Yumaro Incorporated is a registered charity providing employment, training and lifestyle services to 120 people with a permanent disability in the Eurobodalla and southern Shoalhaven regions. Established in 1984, the organisation has been a pioneer in the development of employment services to people with disabilities, running over 10 different social enterprises to provide a wide range of employment and skills development opportunities. Their enterprises include: cardboard and plastics collection and recycling for Orora; cleaning cloth production for Bunnings Australia; wholesale and retail plant nursery; grounds maintenance; survey peg manufacture; secure document destruction; screen printing and a range of other light manufacturing programs. Yumaro is also in the initial stages of building an independent living complex in Moruya that will house 12 people with a permanent disability.
