The Kiama Readers Festival will take place on October 14-16, with the body of speaker sessions in the Kiama Pavilion on Saturday, October 15.
Kiama and District Historical Society members and others intrigued by history may be particularly interested in attending a joint session of the festival at 11am on the Saturday.
Historians Dr Michael Molkentin and Dr Rhys Crawley will discuss the topic ‘Pathways into the Past: Writing Academic, Popular, Public and Official History’.
Dr Molkentin's publications include Australia and the War in the Air, Volume 1 of the OUP Centenary History of Australia and the Great War, Fire in the Sky: the Australian Flying Corps in the First World War and Flying the Southern Cross: Aviators Charles Ulm and Charles Kingsford Smith.
Dr Crawley has worked at the ANU on official histories of Australia's role in international peacekeeping efforts as well as the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.
His first book Climax at Gallipoli will be followed shortly by the publication of The Secret Cold War: The Official History of ASIO 1975-1989.
Books will be available for signature and sale.
