The damp weather on Sunday, September 18, meant that fewer people were able to enjoy our delicious range of BBQ’d delights but we were up and running at the Second Hand Saturday at Black Beach on Saturday, September 24.
We are also currently taking our raffle trainer around the community raising funds for Australian Rotary Health PhD Melanoma Research. This is a joint project with the Rotary Club of Gerringong Sunrise and will be drawn at the Kiama Car Spectacular to be held at the Kiama Showground on Sunday, November 13.
Our next major event is the Rotary Festival of Choirs which will be held at the Kiama Pavilion on Sunday, October 9, from 2pm to 5pm. Tickets can be purchased at Kiama Newsagency, 68 Terralong Street or at the door. Adults $30 | Concessions $25 | Child 10-17 $10. All funds raised will support Rotary charities.
KIAMA LIONS
The September 18 markets was slow due to the weather conditions, but we are still thrilled with the results of the Hot Rod Show. It means that we can help a young Kiama family with a sick child who are doing it tough to get him the proper treatment. In addition we will give some funds to our Kiama Cancer Care Fund and some towards the Respite Centre project.
We have just heard that our umbrella organisation the Lions Club International has been nominated for the 2016-17 Nobel Peace Prize for their work in so many countries. This is an amazing honour for which we are justly proud.
Next June Lions will be celebrating their Centenary and we have been told by our District Governor to mark it with a big party, so we have booked the Pavilion and have already started planning.
See you at Driver Reviver, stop and have a free tea or coffee.
