The next few weeks are going to be very busy on the fund-raising front. We operated our BBQ at last week’s Berry Small Farm Field days. This will be followed by the Craft Markets at the School Flat on September 18 and back for Second Hand Saturday on Sept 24.
We are also currently taking our raffle trainer around the community raising funds for Australian Rotary Health PhD Melanoma Research. This is a joint project with the Rotary Club of Gerringong Sunrise and will be drawn at the Kiama Car Spectacular to be held at the Kiama Showground on Sunday, November 13.
Our next major event is the Rotary Festival of Choirs which will be held at the Kiama Pavilion on Sunday, October 9 from 2pm to 5pm. Tickets can be purchased at Kiama Newsagency, 68 Terralong Street or at the door. Adults $30 | Concessions $25 | Child 10-17 $10. All funds raised will support Rotary charities.
KIAMA LIONS
This year’s Hot Rod show was a tremendous success and was the biggest ever. On our BBQ stand we were flat out through the whole morning and the profits will go a number of local charities. We now have a pause for breath before we do another fundraiser at Black Beach on September 24. We will also be doing the Driver Reviver at Dunmore for the school holiday period.
Our last dinner meeting was a most enjoyable Partners night at the Olive and Vine and our next one will be at the Bowling Club where no doubt we will do some bowling and have a pub quiz type night. Come and see us at the markets on October 16.
KIAMA PROBUS
Kiama Men’s Probus meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 9.15am at Kiama Bowling & Recreation Club. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, September 28. Club business is followed by a short talk by one of our newer members. Following morning tea members are treated to a presentation by a guest speaker. Last month Penny Espinoza from Hearing Australia gave a most relevant and interesting address on the topic of Hearing Problems and Associated Issues. More info contact Garry Funnell on 4232 2210.
