The 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami prompted Ms Liu to begin working as a voluntary aid, assisting in Sri Lanka, Cambodia and more recently, within Australia.
Ms Liu said the journey started in 2005 while she was working in Sydney.
“… My office in Rozelle became the collection point for goods, aid and money for my Sri Lanka Appeal for Bruno,” she said.
“Many still remember the chaos that ensued and how we maintained help over the years.”
Ms Liu will share a number of her travel adventures, traversing a range of emotions including love, exhilaration and adversity.
Accidental Aid Worker captures Ms Liu’s journey to uncover her identity and purpose as she commits to supporting others while facing her own adversities. Ms Liu said her memoir will resonate with a number of people.
“I think my struggles will really resonate with a lot of people,” she said.
“There are plenty [of] places to laugh with and at me, and plenty of times to commiserate. I recommend reading with tissues and a glass of wine.’’
