Designed to meet the needs of tourists, the new visitor hub is located in Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.
Shoalhaven Tourism manager Coralie Bell said the new centre is customer-oriented.
“Our focus is on delivering the information visitors to the Shoalhaven need, in a format they desire, so it’s easy to create a memorable holiday experience in the Shoalhaven,” she said.
“We are making visitor services more relevant and available to everyone who visits, which in turn means we can maximise the promotion of our incredible operators and businesses that are the lifeblood of the local tourism industry.”
The launch follows the release of data from the National and International Visitors Surveys, which reported approximately 3.1 million visitors to region for the year ending March 2016 – an estimated increase of 11 per cent compared to 2015.
Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group chair Lynn Locke said the new centre is an investment in local tourism.
“Ultimately we want to see visitors staying longer in the region and engaging with more of our amazing tourism operators,” she said.
“The new Information centre is a tangible investment in local tourism to encourage strong and consistent visitor spend in the region, further growing our region’s visitor economy.”
The centre allows for increased face-to-face contact with tourism operators and businesses, which was a key request resulting from a recent survey conducted by Shoalhaven Tourism. In addition, the Centre also features a number of attractions, including digital touchscreen information kiosks.
