Committee chairperson Marie Dalton said she is proud of the committee.
“We have a great diversity of talent and skills,” she said.
“We are all looking forward to putting on the best Relay For Life event for Kiama possible.
“We really are trying to ensure that this Relay is the best yet and we will be introducing a number of new activities and initiatives so that returning teams as well as our new teams thoroughly enjoy the Relay For Life experience”.
Kiama Relay For Life (taking place on October 22-23) is an overnight, community fundraising event organised by a committee of volunteers.
It will take place at Kiama Leisure Centre.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Kiama Kooky Hats’.
Terry Deegan, community engagement manager for the Cancer Council’s Southern Region said he has been overwhelmed by the response and support for Kiama’s Relay For Life since its inaugural year in 2010.
“We receive such wonderful support from local volunteers and the local community as a whole,” he said.
“I love working with this committee and I would like to thank them on behalf of the local cancer patients who will continue to benefit from their generosity.”
Funds raised through Kiama Relay For Life directly benefit the local community through accommodation services via a partnership with Accor Hotels, as well as the Sun Sound program, transport to treatment and cancer research.
“Don’t be fooled by the name; Relay For Life is not a running race of any kind,” Mr Deegan said.
“For further information on how you can join in and support Kiama’s Relay For Life phone the Cancer Council on 4223 0200 or visit www.relayforlife.org.au.”
