The opening attracted about 40 people including artists, ‘Friends’ of the Gallery, business owners and locals. More than 30 artists took part and over 30 businesses have awarded vouchers to be redeemed at their business.
‘Harbour’ exhibition is open to all local artists without judgement or selection process. Businesses surrounding Bermagui visit the exhibition prior to opening night to offer a gift voucher to the creator of the work which they admire most.
The chosen works are secret until the opening night when the awards are made public. Jenny Bruce from Brogo was the most awarded exhibitor for her painting ‘From Painting to Sculpture’.
‘Friends’ of the gallery vote for their own favourite work during the course of the exhibition and the artist who attracts most votes by the end of the show (August 31) is given a free guest artist space in the Gallery during the coming year. Shop7 attracts artists from south of Eden to Batemans Bay.
‘Harbour’ was opened by Marian Manning, acting president of the Bermagui Chamber of Commerce. The Shop7 art gallery members believe that the creative process should be fun as can be seen by the picture of Marian, with Jenny Mein, Pauline Balos, Helen Morris and Paul Paten.
