Kiama Mayor Brian Petschler said the week was an opportunity to enjoy the activities provided by council as well as to learn more about the services it provides the community.
“We will be opening our doors to provide an insider’s view of our facilities such as the Kiama Library, Leisure Centre, council chambers and Waste and Recycling Depot,” Cr Petschler said.
“Of course we also have a great program of free family activities such as aqua aerobics and a Kindy gym at the Leisure Centre, as well as preschool story time and a film screening at the Kiama Library.”
Cr. Petschler said the community would also have a chance to meet councillors and senior staff at a meet and greet at the Kiama Sebel on Friday, August 5 from 5pm, with complimentary finger food provided.
Council was also meeting with students at Kiama High as part of Local Government Week.
“Kiama council enjoys a very strong connection with its community,” Cr Petschler said.
“That is something worth celebrating and something we want to keep working at, including with the younger members of our community.”
A full program can be downloaded from the council website at www.kiama.nsw.gov.au
All activities on the program are free. However, bookings are essential for some events and can be made by via the council website, phone (4232 0444), or email (council@kiama.nsw.gov.au).
