Danny Joel Bransgrove, 27, of Lawson Way pleaded guilty to police pursuit, never being licensed, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, use vehicle on road or related area motor vehicle tax not paid and not wearing a secure fitting, approved helmet.
In Nowra Local Court on Monday, Magistrate Gabriel Fleming heard Bransgrove was seen by police between 11.35am and 11.40am on February 9 riding a trail bike, without a helmet, on the shoulder of the Princes Highway near the Log Cabin at Tomerong.
Police activated lights and sirens but Bransgrove failed to stop, passed four cars while travelling on the incorrect side of the highway, reaching speeds of 80km/h.
He turned the bike into Gorindah Road before taking a dirt track but was brought to an abrupt halt by a fence and was arrested by officers.
He told officers he didn’t have a licence and when asked why he didn’t stop said “I’m stupid, I’m an idiot”.
Magistrate Fleming sentenced him to 12 months’ jail with a non-parole period of three months, disqualified him from driving for 12 months and and fined him $2093.
