In presenting the prestigious Rotary award to Mr Gorton at last week’s meeting, the club’s past president Bob Antill said it recognises his substantial contribution to our community.
“Stan works tirelessly for our community and goes above and beyond his position to keep us in touch with what is happening locally,” Mr Antill said. “Please accept our congratulations and sincere thanks for your commitment to our community.”
Mr Antill said the award is named after the founder of Rotary International.
It follows from the club’s substantial contribution during the past year to the Rotary Foundation’s humanitarian and educational programs.
“Rotary Clubs often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to someone whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation,” Mr Antill said. “A contribution to the Rotary Foundation is an investment in the ideal of goodwill, peace and understanding.
“That is an ideal held high by Rotarians the world over, and one Stan clearly shares.”
