The project is supported by the NSW Government and financed by funds raised from the annual Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards.
The Rotary Club of Kiama was honoured last week when presented with the prestigious Rotary Club of the Year Award at the District Changeover dinner held in Sydney last week.
District 9675 comprises over 70 clubs and stretches from Sydney CBD in the north, west to the mountains and south to Kiama.
Kiama Rotary was acknowledged for our consistent excellence across all five of Rotary’s “Avenues of Service” namely: Community Service, International, Youth, Club and Vocational.
We were also recognised for our effective communication program including, club bulletin, print media, website and Facebook. Well done to Past President Marylyn and the whole club.
KIAMA LIONS
The annual changeover dinner for a service club such as Lions is an important event. At our recent changeover outgoing president, Hilton Bloomfield, highlighted the Club's many achievements over the past 12 months.
Apart from generating over $55,000 of financial support for many worthwhile local and international projects in the past year it is important to realise that local annual events like the Kiama Show and the Kiama Art Show rely on Kiama Lions for significant non-financial support, hence the importance of strong local service clubs.
Incoming president David McLeod and his board were inducted by District Governor Sally Wilton at the changeover at Kiama Leagues Club. Congratulations to Lion John Larkins for his receipt of a prestigious Melvin Jones award and also to other members who were recognised with other awards for their service to the Club.
With 68 members Kiama Lions looks forward to another year of strong community service.
