For the first time in 22 years the iconic shopping centre complex on the corner of Station Street went to auction at the end of May, with a “local guy” snapping it up for an undisclosed amount.
Ray White agent Mattias Samuelsson said northern suburbs residents were usually opposed to big city investors taking staple landmarks, so this would be welcomed.
“I think a lot of people are happy that it’s stayed in local hands and it’s someone that will try and use it to improve the area,” Mr Samuelsson said.
The building houses eight commercial and residential properties and is “quite rundown”, something the new owner has signaled he’ll look into.
