On that day the annual Kiama Jazz and Blues Club dance will celebrate what would have been Sinatra’s 100^th birthday.

The celebration will include Dane Laboyrie fronting Judy Bailey’s Jazz Connection big band. 

With trumpeter Laboyrie at the helm, the 18-piece big band will perform from the Sinatra songbook.

Kiama Jazz and Blues Club president Steve Ivory said their annual supper club dances had become a popular fixture on Kiama’s music and social calendar.

‘’There is nothing quite like a big band and I encourage Sinatra and music fans alike to come along and enjoy what will undoubtedly be something special,’’ he said.

‘’Judy Bailey is one of Australia’s most accomplished and respected musicians and she will have assembled a world class band of players.

‘’The Dane Laboyrie Band are Kiama Jazz And Blues Festival favourites and Dane will be memorable out front.’’

Laboyrie has performed with an impressive array of musicians including Taylor Swift, The Hilltop Hoods, The Cat Empire, James Morrison, Maria Schneider, Bob Barnard, Boy and Bear, Miss Murphy and Guy Sebastian.

He has also been part of the orchestra for some of Sydney’s favourite musicals including the soon-to-open Alladin, A Chorus Line, Wicked, Anything Goes and Fiddler on the Roof.

Laboyrie said Bailey’s band would be comprised of up-and- coming Sydney Conservatorium of Music students eager to bring Frank to life.

‘’There is not too many opportunities when you get to hear a live big band like this, so we’re all looking forward to it,’’ Laboyrie said.

‘’Basically we are going to perform it the same way Frank performed it with Count Basie.

‘’The music he performed is of such a classic style, it is just accessible to any generation of music lover.’’
