The string quartet consists of Conservatorium members who have been mentored by esteemed Norwegian violinist, Professor Ole Bohn.
Led by David Miller, one of Australia’s most highly regarded classical pianists and vocal accompanists who was awarded an Order of Australia for his musical services, the student musicians have toured across Australia with a baritone and harpist.
Performing some of the most beloved classics during their concert, the quartet are passionate about bringing the beauty and joy of music to audiences in the Illawarra.
Alexander Chiu, Maxine Poon, Joseph Coen and Emma Rayner are among the musicians performing in Kiama.
Alexander is an award- winning violinist currently in his final year completing his Honours degree at the Conservatorium. Alexander has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and has held the post of concertmaster of the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra.
Maxine is in her third year of a Bachelor of Music and is also a violinist performing in the string quartet. Maxine has performed with numerous orchestras including the Sydney Youth Orchestra and has led the Pymble Ladies College Symphony.
Joseph has performed with some of the finest Australian youth orchestras with the viola and has worked with internationally renowned artists such as Vladimir Ashkenazy and Steve Reich. Joseph has performed at the Sydney Opera House on many occasions.
Emma plays the violincello and is in her second year studying the cello with Umberto Clerici. Emma began her cello studies with Catriona Byles, and has studied under some mentors such as David Pereira and Alan Hicks.
Baritone Henry Wright will also be joining the Quartet for the performance in Kiama. Henry is a singer who has performed with some of the finest choirs in Sydney, and sang as a bass soloist in the Mosman Musical Society’s production of The Messiah. Harpist Rowan Phemister will be also be touring the country.
