“Walk for an Aussie Kid” was held last Sunday to raise money for children with cerebral palsy, requiring participants to walk about four kilometres along Werri Beach.
Walk coordinator David Peade said proceeds from the event went to The Lions Mobility Foundation to provide walkers for children affected by cerebral palsy.
‘’Sunday’s event raised almost $3000, which will be used to help children with cerebral palsy become more independent and enhance their quality of life,” he said.
“We had a number of sponsored participants, including Judy Hall, a member of The Gerringong Bowling Club, who was able to raise $560. Pam Dunwoodie [also] raised $445 from the women and men at The Body Inline Pilates Studio at Werri Beach.”
A number of prizes were donated on the day, including two signed footballs from the Gerringong Lions Rugby League Club and the Gerringong Breakers Football Club as well as a Socceroo shirt.
Mr Peade said the Lions Club received positive feedback from participants.
“We had a lot of good feedback from parents and on the day saying how much fun it was and how it was great to support the organisation,” he said.
“The Gerringong Lions are extremely grateful for the generosity of the local community. It is truly a wonderful town to live in.”
The Gerringong Bowling Club, The Gerroa Boat Fisherman’s Club, Cronin’s Liquor Store, Gerringong IGA, Gerringong Public School, Stephen Ray Jewellers and St John Ambulance were sponsors of the event.
