We were excited to see that two Kiama Ambulance Officers were announced as finalists in the Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards by the Hon. David Elliott MP, Minister for Emergency Services at Parliament House last week. Congratulations to Station Officer, Kelvin Milne and Paramedic David Kay.
The awards acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding community service of NSW Emergency Service Personnel while supporting research into Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Emergency Services.
At last week’s meeting we heard from Professor Andrew Miller from the University of Wollongong who spoke about bowel cancer and how Rotary’s Bowelscan program is helping save lives from this insidious disease. If found early, 90 per cent of cases are treatable and people go on to live long and fulfilling lives.

KIAMA LIONS
All systems are Go for the Monster Trivia night at the Pavilion and it looks like we will have a full house, some amazing prizes and auction items will be available and hopefully we will be able to raise good money for our Cancer Fund and Respite House project.
Last week’s dinner meeting was a joint meeting with all the local clubs, it is a great opportunity to enable members to meet others and exchange ideas at grass roots level for fundraising and for the general wellbeing of Lions.
That will be the last dinner meeting before our annual Changeover Dinner when our new Board will be inducted on June 23. Our new President will be David McLeod.
KIAMA CWA
The next meeting of the Kiama Branch is Tuesday, June 21, at 11am for our Agriculture and Environment morning followed by a soup and sandwich lunch. Our normal business meeting will commence at 1pm. The CWA Hall is at the rear of 70 Shoalhaven St. Visitors and new members are most welcome. If you are interested in friendship and fellowship as well as being involved in issues which affect women in local, regional and country wide Australia please come to our meeting and see what we are all about.
