Eight years later the 806 square metre property has hit the market again.
Ray White Helensburgh principal selling agent Simon Beaufils declared it “one of the top five properties on the Illawarra market” at present.
“It’s very rare when you look at the geography of the coast and the nature of the land, it’s very hard to get pure beachfront homes - certainly in the northern Illawarra,” Mr Beaufils said.
''When you look at the geography of the coast and the nature of the land, it’s very hard to get pure beachfront homes - certainly in the northern Illawarra.''
“It’ll probably get some reasonable attention from Sydney and perhaps even overseas.”
Mr Beaufils said blocks like these were attractive to professionals living and working overseas who wanted an investment property they could eventually live in later down the track.
“They earn good money over there but aspire to retire here, particularly if it’s a well positioned property that’s hard to come by,” he said.
“Quite often the top properties we’ve sold are to people working overseas, but not necessarily overseas nationality.”
The block spans 20.3 metres across with beach frontage. Floor to ceiling bi-fold doors open from the kitchen and dining areas onto a deck with uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean.
Gardens and lawns surround the property, while an internal courtyard offers another outdoor living space.
For the colder nights an open fire place in the vaulted ceiling lounge room will take care of the winter chill.
While the block is double the size of all others in the street it is unlikely to be able to be subdivided, but it does have existing DA approval for second storey additions.
“All the neighbours are 10 metres by 40, but when this one was built it acquired two of those blocks so it’s 20 by 40,” Mr Beaufils said.
The first home open is Saturday from 1:30pm to 3pm. The property will go to auction on June 18 through Ray White.
