The joint operation targeting the Nowra CBD and Stocklands Shopping Centre has resulted in a number of people charged for a variety of offences including theft, fraud, drug and traffic infringements.
Nowra Police have focused their attention in and around the shopping precinct.
A three day operation, utilising officers from the Shoalhaven LAC Target Action Group, detectives and general duties officers was conducted.
As further two day operation including members of the Shoalhaven Target Action Group, Crime Management Unit and officers from Lake Illawarra and Wollongong Local Area Commands provided a high visibility policing response to the area.
As a result of the operation police searched more than 70 people and nine vehicles.
Thirty move on directions were issue.
Three people were dealt with for being in possession of property believed to be stolen (goods in custody), four for possessing prohibited drugs, six retail theft offences, more than 40 fraud offences and 14 traffic offences (including drink driving).
Officers interacted with 60 businesses during the operation.
Various people were arrested for outstanding warrants, larceny, possession of prohibited drugs, possession of a replica firearm, traffic offences and being possession of an offensive implement.
Shoalhaven Local Area Command crime manager, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Robinson said the operation demonstrated the commitment of Shoalhaven LAC to continue its high visibility focus in and around the Nowra CBD and other retail precincts.
“It shows our ability to combine resources with neighbouring Local Area Commands when required,” he said.
“These types of operations will be ongoing.”
