Moruya resident and former Eurobodalla Senior Citizen of the Year Barbara Smith fears for the future of our shire after a recent brazen robbery from her home.

A thief or thieves entered when her husband Bruce was mowing the lawn, and took a bag containing about $5000 worth of jewelry that was sitting on a dressing table.
“They even took my medic-alert bracelet; why would they need that?” she said.
Her eternity ring, engagement ring, pearls and diamond earrings were also stolen, and she has reported the matter to police.
Mrs Smith fears the scourge of the drug ice is creating desperation among thieves.
“The ice age is ruining us,” she said.
“I don’t know what the answer is. Where is the respect?”
“They don’t care but should be made to care. It’s a horrible world our children are coming in to.”
There was only one positive thing to come out of the matter for the CWA sponge queen diva and show judge.
“I’m glad they didn’t take the Kenwood Mixmaster.”
