Therefore, Izzard recently travelled to Iceland for a work visit, capturing striking images of the country’s rugged and epic landscapes, active volcanoes and the famous Aurora Borealis.
“I did say to myself before I decided to go that I wanted a place really opposite to Kiama in every aspect,” the 47-year-old said.
“So I did that on the other side of the world, where the landscape is different, the climate is different.
“The amazing glacial waterfalls and epic landscapes… Everywhere I looked, there was something amazing for me to photograph.”
A series of images from Izzard’s trip will be showcased in the 65° North – Perspectives of Iceland exhibition from June 2-30.
It will take place at Kiama’s Little Blowhole Art Bar.
There will be images for sale.
“The subject matter is something that wouldn’t have been seen in Kiama before,” Izzard said.
Izzard said he hoped to conduct workshops with other photographers interested in travelling overseas to capture exotic surroundings.
“It’s about experiencing the places as well as photographing,” he said.
