Lake Heights’ Skye Burgess won the Open Womens, and is now the only competitor in the event’s history to win three titles in a row twice.
Sandon Point’s Jake Spooner took out the Senior Mens. This was his eighth win in all divisions. His first title was in 1989 in the under-18s. Currarong’s Ty Watson won the Open Mens.
Other winners included Kiama’s Chae Conti (under-14 boys); Dolphin Point’s Zane Stedman (under-16 boys); Sandon Point’s Kyen Stuart (under-18s boys); and Shellharbour’s Kiara Meredith (under-16 girls).
“On Saturday morning things weren’t looking great, but conditions improved during the morning and there was a consistent two to three feet of swell, with the occasional larger set,” Dave Hunt, event coordinator from Werri Beach Boardriders said.
“On Sunday it looked smaller, but as we got it started the waves started breaking a lot better.”
