Using the game as another to test to see how Kiama’s year was progressing, all players were keen to put an end to the Bulldogs’ dominance.
In what was a really entertaining first half, both sides played a quality football game with neither side giving in. Kiama showed they were a worthy opponent for last year’s premiers going into the half time break one point down.
The Bulldogs come out firing after the main break and the first 10 minutes proved to be a match-winning period for the Wollongong side kicking three unanswered goals. But to the Power’s credit they regained composure but were unable to reel in the margin that the Bulldogs gained.
Inaccurate kicking was again the Power’s Achilles heel kicking 12 points to Bulldogs 5 but the game certainly showed that the Kiama side has what it takes to match the league’s best.
Ben Williams kicked three goals for the Power while Jack Mahoney, Jimmy Ryan & Charlie Wood played well.
In the earlier game Kiama and Port Kembla had a very close, entertaining game with Port Kembla taking the match by seven points.
Michael Appleford, Matt Price & father son duo Jamie & Riley Browne were Kiama’s best.
