One of the highlights of his role on the film was a face-to-face meeting with one of the film’s stars, Hugo Weaving.
“I was a little nervous knowing he was on his way but when he arrived he was really nice and laid back,” Mr Lonesborough said.
“I got to shake his hand and introduce myself and he was just a very nice guy.”
Fresh from his Sydney Film School course Mr Lonesborough landed the role after a successful interview with the film’s producers, David Jowsey and Vincent Sheehan.
“I heard about the job through one of my teachers at film school and decided to apply,” he said.
“I had read the book beforehand so I was really excited.”
The film is an adaptation of Fremantle-based author Craig Silvey’s 2009 novel of the same name and also stars well-known Australian actor Toni Collette.
Mr Lonesborough said the film is currently being sound mixed, and he has been learning first hand how the industry works in Australia.
“I've learnt so much about sound design and working in pro tools, which is the industry standard sound editing program,” Mr Lonesborough said.
“I was able to attend most of the ADR (automated dialogue replacement) sessions where I learnt a lot about recording ADR and also learned a lot about interacting with experienced actors during the session.
“I was able to do some sound editing as well which was a great experience in furthering my knowledge in pro tools and also working with a sound designer.”
Meeting Hugo Weaving was great!

He is enjoying diving head first into a creative industry he has been passionate about since his day’s growing up in Bega.
“The sound designer would give me a task and I would do it to the best of my ability, then he would listen and give me any feedback or changes to make, which was a great experience in itself,” he said.
“Generally I've learnt a lot about the film industry and the hierarchy of crew roles and also terminology and workflow used by people who have been in the industry for years.
“I'm hoping that this experience will help me in growing as a filmmaker.
“Sound design is one of my favourite things to do in post-production so hopefully this experience has helped me learn enough to continue pursuing that path,” he said.
