Farms with a Future is run by SCPA-South East Producers which secured funding through South East Local Land Services to assist farmers to improve the soil quality, water retention and environmental biodiversity on their farms.
By attending a Ground Work Day and submitting your ideas for your farm property, producers will be in the running for $1,000 towards the cost of engaging a consultant to further develop their plans, and up to $4,000 towards the cost of implementing the plan and hosting a Ground Work Day on their property.
The next Ground Work Day is on Monday, May 23 at Symphony Farm in Tilba. Symphony Farm is run by Amanda and Graham Thompson who are implementing the Yeoman's practice of placing fencing along the land contours created by natural water movements. They are developing on contour paddocks for multi-tiered grazing of cattle, pigs and chickens.
On the day participants will explore the implementation of a range of sustainable farming practices including rational grazing on contour, and will be setting out fence lines on contour using dumpy levels
