Council makes Cultural Grants available to local artists for artistic endeavors to support the development and delivery of arts and cultural projects within the Kiama municipality.
The recent summer round attracted 14 applicants and five were selected by the Kiama Council Cultural Board Sub-committee.
Funds will be awarded to:
*Gerringong/Kiama band Tropical Wax for a five-song EP ($2000);
*An inaugural Kiama Readers Festival planned for October ($2000).
*Music in the Park at Jamberoo ($500), which will take place in the rotunda during the monthly Jamberoo Market;
*The Before I Go project ($3000), an interactive exhibition at the Old Fire Station which will examine what is means to individuals to live well and die well;
*Country musician Benn Gunn for a music video to accompany his song Heavensville promoting the municipality’s landscapes and community ($2400).
Council allocates $15,000 each year through its Cultural Grants Program.
Applicants can apply for up to $3000 per project. Applications may be submitted at any time during the year, with closing dates for the two rounds being the fourth Friday in August and fourth Friday in February.
