The Rotary Clubs of the Illawarra will hold the annual Ride4Rotary cycling event at the Unanderra Velodrome on Sunday, May 22. Funds raised will help support local “youth at risk”. If you would like more information regarding how to participate visit the website: http://www.ride4rotaryillawarra.com.au.
Staying on a youth theme, Andrew Chatfield from Kiama Youth Centre was our guest speaker this week. We are active supporters of the centre and the valuable service they provide to the community.
We have heard from our sister club in Madang, Papua New Guinea that the latest container has been unpacked and goods distributed to the appropriate destinations. Again we thank our many friends who helped collect items, contributed goods, helped with the packing, prepared paperwork and so on, in order to make this a reality.
If you have any questions about Rotary or would like to join in any of our activities, please call Ian Johnston at 0419 388 334.
KIAMA LIONS
The excellent baby grand piano that we are offering for sale will be on display in the shop window of the old Mitre 10 shop in Terralong Street. It is being professionally tuned. The proceeds from the sale will go towards the renovation costs to our ambitious project to convert an unused cottage in Shoalhaven Street into a Respite Centre for Carers.
Over the Anzac weekend our members were kept very busy at the Driver Reviver site at Dunmore, Many others took part in the Dawn Service at the Lighthouse.
This week’s dinner meeting will be a Happy Hour/Housewarming event at the home of the Scifleets in Jamberoo. This weekend we will be assisting the fund-raising efforts of our daughter club Shellharbour Lions at the Wings over Illawarra Air Show at Albion Park.
