She was launching a netball tournament with a difference.
Wollongong will play host to Australia’s first official Beach Netball event on October 14-16.
And the former NSW Swifts player couldn’t be happier.
“As a Thirroul girl who loves the beach and netball, this event really is the best of both worlds,’’ Davies said.
“It is unreal. The netball girls get to do what they love and have loads of fun in the sun at the same time.’’
Beach Netball is the brainchild of NETFIT Netball founder and former Melbourne Vixens and NSW Swifts player, Sarah Wall.
It’s a modified and simpler version of one of the highest participation sports in the country, involving women’s teams, mixed and kids’ competitions at some of Australia’s most iconic beaches.
There will be 100 teams from Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia taking part in the Wollongong event.
