Several members are retired engineers and are working with Kiama Council engineers to plan the project.
Kiama Rotary recently received a grant from the NSW Government to help improve community infrastructure and drive tourism in the area.
Kiama Rotary and Kiama Council built the original Saddleback Mountain lookout 50 years ago and we have undertaken this project to commemorate the anniversary.
We expect to open the new lookout early in the New Year.
The new southern lookout will be accessed via the southwestern side of the parking area and has spectacular views across Foxground, down to Jervis Bay and beyond.
Commodore Vince de Pietro was the keynote speaker at our recent Anzac Day remembrance dinner.
Kiama Rotarians, RSL representatives, special guests, family and friends attended the annual function at the Leagues Club on Monday night.
We will once again, run a BBQ for the Anzac Day, Dawn Service at Blowhole Point next week.
KIAMA MEN’S PROBUS CLUB
Kiama Men’s Probus meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 9.15am at Kiama Bowling & Recreation Club.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, April 27, and is the first for the new Probus year.
The guest speaker is Ambre Hammond, an accomplished and well-known pianist who is the face of Girl Piano Truck.
A few years ago, Ambre launched a worldwide project involving travel with a piano or keyboard giving concerts in schools and orphanages in underprivileged and remote areas such as East Timor, Thailand and Belarus.
In Belarus Ambre gave a concert to patients in a mental institution! Following the presentation, Ambre will present a ‘mini-concert’. Any retired men in the community who would like to share the fun, fellowship and friendship with us will be made most welcome.
Please contact president Garry Funnell on 4232 2210, or just come along.
